Job Description

Summary

 

Reporting to the Team Leader and Line Leader, the Packing Operator is responsible for operating the packaging machinery and/or any other applicable machinery. The Packing Operator will also work closely and provide backup as needed to the Team Leader in order to ensure the packaging line produces a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards. 

 

In this position you will work in a team environment led by a Team Leader. You will support your Team Leader by demonstrating and practicing teamwork every day and respect all your fellow Team Members.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Team Member of a Food Production Team receiving guidance, direction and instructions from the Team Leader and Production Leadership.
  • Required to enter correct data into the Infinity computer system validating the metrics to ensure product quality guidelines are met, completing mandatory Quality Control requirements.
  • Directly responsible for controlling a key Critical Control Point (CCP) utilizing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), ensuring all production equipment is prepared for production and properly operates during production.
  • Safely and promptly shuts-off production machinery before clearing jams. Ensures equipment lockout procedures are used prior to doing any cleaning or adjustment/repair which requires safety guards to be removed or which may expose employees to injury through inadvertent movement of machine parts.
  • Completes all company required forms or documents and periodically completes mandatory quality checks, to account for products produced and to provide other documentation required by the company.
  • Determines and timely reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate leadership. Monitors for and detects defective materials, documents defective material and documents accurate information on production and/or packaging forms.
  • Must have previously demonstrated ability or can develop the ability to communicate problems or issues that are occurring on the production line to Production Leadership.
  • Must have the ability to advise the Team Leader or the Production Leadership when opportunities exist to improve the production line.
  • When needed or as opportunities arise, work with Quality or Production Leadership on programs related to Lean Manufacturing and other quality tools.
  • Must be willing to take on additional responsibilities and consistently demonstrate problem solving skills in order to excel within the company.
  • Must follow the FGF Site attendance policy and must comply with the required call-in procedures.
  • Must be dependable and comply with timely arrival and departure time habits including meals and breaks.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and co-exist with all FGF Team Members.
  • Must exhibit teamwork and willingness to help other FGF Team Members, strive to work within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
  • Follow the company dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Must be able to be relied and depended upon to complete assigned tasks.
  • Required to comply with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Preferred but not required a minimum of 2 years of Food Production Machine Operation experience.
  • Must have previous experience setting up, operating and training others on manufacturing or production equipment.
  • Attention to detail is a must and the ability to detect the presence of product issues or production issues.
  • Ability to visually inspect product and materials.
  • The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Food Manufacturing, Food Safety Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) requirements for this position.
  • The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and learn all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for this position.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to move from one task to another with minimal distraction.
  • Physical capable of performing the demands of the role and position.
  • Flexible to work different shifts and weekends if needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work extended hours and rotating shifts when required.
